Ferguson excited by Tevez

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is excited about the prospect of Carlos Tevez finally making an appearance for the Red Devils, following his problematic move from West Ham United.

Argentina striker Tevez is set to feature in a midweek friendly, although he is unlikely be involved in the Premier League opener against Reading next weekend.

Ferguson said: "Tevez has shown he can be one of the top strikers in the world.

"The boy has got something exceptional in him. We experienced it in the last game against West Ham at Old Trafford. He was a real handful to us.

"Tevez trained with us on Friday and Saturday. I was surprised how well he did. He looked quite sharp.

"It would be nice to think I could have him available for the Reading game, but if not then, I'm sure the following week.

"I can see Tevez and Wayne Rooney playing together. I have read all these opinions about the two of them being identical. I don't think they are at all.

"What you can say is they both have a similar physique, they are both two-footed, they are both quickish, they can both beat a man. I don't think it's a bad thing in terms of the similarities.
"When they get playing with each other they will hopefully get an understanding about where they are playing."
